PEARSON
David PEARSON was born about 1794, as he died at Clayworth, Nottinghamshire, in 1837 aged 43.
In the 1851 census of Clayworth David's wife Mary gives her birthplace as Lincoln.
David was a boatman. Clayworth is on the Chesterfield Canal and it is feasible that David may be
from Lincoln also, or anywhere else linked by the canals and rivers.
Because of this a possible marriage of David PEARSON is to Mary BAXTER on 4th JULY 1817 at Lincoln,
St. Mary Magdelene.
The children of David and Mary, Bapt. at Clayworth are:- David 1819; John 1823; Martha I 1825(died 1825);
Martha II 1827(died 1828); Mary 1829; Charles 1823 and Martha III 1835.
The above PEARSON line may derive from the PEARSONs of Stamford in Lincolnshire, via Lincoln.
***
Martha PEARSON the daughter of David and Mary was bapt. 20th April 1835 at Clayworth.
Martha married George GABBITAS of East Markham on the 5th January 1857 at Clayworth.
A witness to the marriage was John PEARSON, who may have been Martha's brother.
***
There is a contemporary line of PEARSON at Clayworth down to a William PEARSON b.1819 who is also
a boatman. No direct connection to the above line has been found, but they have a Martha born
1823 at Clayworth.
